Why The Thimbleberrys?

In 2019, we took 10 days to drive around Lake Superior - the Circle Tour.

On our journey through the Keweenaw Peninsula in Northern Michigan, we stopped at a shop that sold baked goods, carved spoons, and jam. We bought a jar of thimbleberry jam because we'd never heard of it. It was delightful.

Two months later, we moved into our house in Northeast Minneapolis together. As soon as we could, we planted a patch of Thimbleberries. We started calling our home “Thimbleberry House” and, as a joke-that-stuck, we started calling each other, “Mr. and Ms. Thimbleberry House”.

October 3rd

October 3rd, 2021 is the third anniversary of our first date … at 56 Brewing.

Engagement

Cory also proposed on October 3rd 2020. Because of COVID, his best-laid plans fell through and we accidentally found ourselves on a hike at a park called Lake Rebecca. Cory found a little place off the path with a nice view. He asked Rebecca to take a picture of him with his film camera. When she held it up to her eye, “Will You Marry Me?” was written inside the camera so that she could see it when she looked through the viewfinder.

However, she almost didn’t see it because our newly adopted puppy, Alice, started absolutely losing her mind about a fallen tree. In the chaos, Rebecca forgot she had to say “Yes” and Cory started to put the ring on her right hand. But we figured it out through laughter, tears, and a tight grip on the leash.
